DR2 is running a new outdoor dance performance project called Moving Picture with workshops in August (Heartlands, Pool and Bodmin ShireHouse) and performances on Sunday 5th September on Bodmin Beacon.
Moving Picture is a large-scale outdoor dance event to celebrate the cycle race “Tour of Britain” . It will be a cross between a large dance and… well, a Moving Picture- very colourful and huge fun. It is designed to be seen from above and also from ground-level. We are going to film it by drone on the performance day and we are designing it so it can be picked up by TV helicopters who are filming the whole of the cycle race across Cornwall on 5th September. The race finishes in Bodmin at about 4pm. We will do the final performance for cameras at around 4.15 pm- about 15 minutes after the end of the race.
We are looking for 100-plus dancers and performers. There are two groups you can join if you want to be involved. You need to be quite fit and ready to work outside!
The dance is designed by professional dancers Rob Mennear and Grace Murdoch, and all workshops led by Rob Mennear
Propeller and experienced dancers- we have a Core Group for more experienced dancers of any age- this group will do more complex choreography and form the leading core of the dance.
This group will meet to rehearse at Heartlands Chi-an-Bobel in Pool on:
Thursday 5th August, then Tuesdays 10th, 17th and 24th August. All sessions 11am-3pm. You don’t have to attend every rehearsal, but the more you can do the better.
Community group: All ages from 7 years to adult,
This group will do a slightly less complex choreography, but still play a key part in the whole performance- we are hoping to attract all ages, so this is something you can do with your family and friends.
