WHAT THEY SAY
Whether we live by the sea or just visit, we are all connected to it, often without knowing why. Perhaps it’s our fascination with the sea’s power, or maybe it’s a desire for some kind of healing or escape that draws us to the coast. Shoreline is a work that explores our mysterious connection to the sea. It is amphibious – danced in the water, as well as on the sand to live choral music. It is a metaphor for the storms we all endure, the moments of tranquility we seek and the borders and boundaries we fear or dare to cross.
WHAT WE SAY
Those who saw Shoreline in SALT 2016 will testify: this performance is an experience for all ages, one that will stay with you forever. Having performed for Nigel Charnock, Liv Lorent and Gill Clark, before going on to make work for Akram Khan, Cscape Dance Company, Verve and Freefall Dance, Simon Birch’s stunning choreography is powerfully danced by five superb performers, supported by a choir, right on the edge of the sea… you might even get wet feet! ACCESS: All locations are fully accessible but let us know if any of your party requires a special beach wheelchair. Sensible shoes, and clothes for the weather are essential. Be prepared for alterations in start times, depending on the climate and tide. Keep an eye on Twitter or Facebook for such announcements prior to the show.
